Photography had never been of any interest for me. I had such little interest that I held off taking the required Photojournalism class for the Multimedia major until the fall of my senior year.

For the class, one of the project requirements was to take a photo and have it printed in an issue of Bradley's school newspaper, "The Scout". We were given the contact email address of the school's photo editor, Saleena Fortunato, who just happened to be a good friend of mine. This not only proved to be beneficial for fulfilling the assignment of getting a photo in "The Scout". We were given another assignment of capturing a sports competitive action shot. As photo editor, Saleena was given a press pass for sports events to take pictures on the field/court. She brought me along to a Bradley Braves basketball game to take pictures on the court.

To my own surprise, I found a new love for sports photography. I was given huge praise for my competitive sports photos in my Photojournalism class. Saleena also had me continue to join her to Bradley basketball games and take photos for "The Scout". I had a number of photos printed in the school newspaper, and even became the editorial cartoonist.
